The Hunger Games: 12 Actresses Who Could Have Been Katniss Everdeen

12. Abigail Breslin

abigailbreslin Despite having only turned sixteen last year, Abigail Breslin has now been acting for eleven years, having first starred in M. Night Shyamalan€™s Signs at the age of five in 2002. A series of forgettable films followed before she featured alongside Alan Arkin, Greg Kinnear, Toni Colette and Steve Carrell in 2006€™s Little Miss Sunshine, a road trip film that saw her play a child beauty queen. Darkly comedic, the role saw her nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of nine. Roles in films such as My Sister€™s Keeper, Zombieland and Rango followed in subsequent years. Despite her experience and previous Oscar nod seemingly making her a strong contender for the part, Breslin€™s audition for Katniss was a not a successful one. Instead, she can currently be seen in €˜The Call€™, a Halle Berry led thriller that has failed to captivate critics, but is on track to become WWE Studios most successful film to date.
