This feels a little like fan-casting given Benedict Cumberbatch’s status in Hollywood, but this is Disney we are talking about. For anyone who is familiar with the character, you can argue that Cumberbatch is a perfect choice.

While Cumberbatch rose to fame through his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the BBC modern-day adaptation, Cumberbatch has also proven himself capable of playing a convincing villain in Star Trek: Into Darkness as Khan.

Everything down to his voice and his physicality, Cumberbatch would be a fantastic choice for Thrawn and something that fans have dreamed about.
