The Matrix Resurrections: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

3. Are Bugs & Lexy A Couple?

Bugs is by far the best new character introduced to the franchise in Resurrections, even though she and the other crew members of the Mnemosyne aren't particularly well fleshed-out.

One especially disappointing aspect is Bugs' dynamic with Lexy (Eréndira Ibarra), which many fans have already interpreted as a romantic relationship, and consequently begun "shipping."

Several times throughout the film it's made clear that Bugs is extremely protective of Lexy, particularly during the final swarm attack, and when Neo and Trinity are reunited in the real world in one of the film's final scenes, we can see Bugs and Lexy intimately embracing.

That isn't to say their relationship isn't merely a close platonic one, but given Lana Wachowski's status as an LGBT activist, it absolutely makes sense that she would include a gay relationship in the film.

It feels like more scenes between the two might've been left on the cutting room floor, but we'll sadly never know for sure unless Lana or the cast members themselves confirm it.
