The Single Biggest Mistake Every James Bond Film Has Made

19. On Her Majesty's Secret Service: George Lazenby's Performance

The Man With The Golden Gun Ending
United Artists

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a very good film. Boasting excellent action sequences, the finest on-screen Blofeld to date (Telly Savalas), strong emotional power and one of the best Bond Girls of them all (played by the late, great Dame Diana Rigg), this one of the strongest early entries in the series.

Unfortunately, in spite of all of these qualities, it is not led by a good performance.

George Lazenby, the forgotten Bond actor who only played James Bond once and didn't have much of a career afterwards, does OK with the emotional moments but other than that his performance doesn't really work.

He lacks the macho energy and charm James Bond needs and falls flat most of the time, making him the worst of the six James Bond actors by quite some distance.
