The Single Biggest Mistake Every James Bond Film Has Made

18. Diamonds Are Forever: The Complete Lack Of Memorable Action Scenes

Now we arrive at the first big dud of the James Bond franchise, which is still one of the very worst in the series. This one has an awful lot of problems.

Still, while Sean Connery's flat performance, the lack of acknowledgement of Tracy Bond's demise and the terrible villains and Bond Girls are bad enough, the thing which kills this movie the most is the lack of any good action scenes.

Nearly all of the action sequences suck and things such as Bond riding a space buggy through the desert and defeating Blofeld (Charles Gray) with a crane do not make for good viewing at all.

This is particularly damaging since Diamonds Are Forever is also very silly. Some strong thrills and tension were needed in order to counter-balance the ridiculous tone and ensure that the film could still be engaged with as a thriller, but sadly only one action scene - a fight in a lift - offers any true excitement.

Thanks to this, despite being such a silly movie, ironically enough it's a very dull one too.
