The Single Greatest Thing In Each MCU Movie

18. Thor: The Dark World - Frigga's Funeral Scene

Featuring a painfully by-the-numbers screenplay, the worst MCU villain of all time and bland video game-like action sequences, Thor: The Dark World is the worst MCU movie to date. It might have a bizarrely high Rotten Tomatoes score of 66% but the movie is deservedly one of the most hated MCU movies.

Still, there is something great lurking within... and that's the funeral of Frigga, Thor's mother. In this sequence, Frigga's body is sent out on a long-boat and is ignited with a flaming arrow, before the Asgardians send balls of light into the sky as a tribute.

Seriously, this scene is absolutely fantastic and just for a few moments, this dreary assembly-line product of a movie becomes something special.

With wonderful visuals, a beautiful musical score from Bryan Tyler and a real sense of poignancy running through the entire thing, this send-off is a truly stirring viewing.

There's also a very good Loki moment at the end. He isn't allowed to attend the funeral, is shown grieving and this was a very nice way to set up his redemptive arc.
