The Worst Part Of The 10 Best MCU Movies
7. The Villain - Guardians Of The Galaxy
When the Guardians of the Galaxy released in 2015, absolutely no one knew who they were. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot were obscure even to the majority of comic book fans, never mind the mainstream, but James Gunn made them icons.
Though Volume 2 was a fantastic movie, and Volume 3 would appear to be as close to a sure fire hit as the MCU can hope for these days, there is something so special about the first movie. What wasn’t so special however, was the villain.
Guardians of the Galaxy had five new heroes to introduce, as well as expanding the cosmic side of the franchise like never before and shoe-horning in Thanos, which left precious little time for the development of Ronan the Accuser.
He was as one-dimensional as it got. His grudge against Xandar could have at least had some real meaning or depth, instead of essentially hating the planet and its people just because, and as Thanos said, he came across as little more than a pouty child. The movie was about the Guardians themselves more than anything, and that worked, but there really could have done with more effort going into the antagonist.
