5. Jane Foster Is FINALLY A Compelling Character

It only took the MCU a grand total of 11 years, but they finally made Jane Foster a worthwhile character.

Ever since her introduction Jane has felt like a major afterthought: a disinteresting human love interest for Thor who quickly dipped out of the franchise as Natalie Portman seemingly realised the part had nothing to offer her beyond an easy payday.

But it's at least a pleasure to report that Portman's return to the MCU was largely worth the wait, as Jane is finally developed into a more nuanced, compelling, and likeable character.

For the first time in the history of the MCU, her chemistry with Thor actually feels palpable, and seeing her empowered as Mighty Thor while battling a brutal cancer diagnosis is a dichotomy that works well.

Portman gives one of the best performances in the film and puts full paid to Mighty Thor even when the script races through her arc at mach-speed.
