Thor: Ragnarok - Everything We Know So Far

7. The Story Uses Elements Of Planet Hulk

Ever since Mark Ruffalo was confirmed to appear as Bruce Banner/the Hulk, speculation was rife that the film would contain elements of Planet Hulk, a popular comic-book storyline (and solid animated movie), and this was confirmed by the plot synopsis.

Planet Hulk revolves around various heroes deciding the angry green fella is too dangerous to stay on Earth, so they choose to jettison him into space, where Hulk lands on a distant planet and is forced to fight in gladiator battles.

However, Hulk ultimately conquers this planet and is named its new king. He then sets his sights on Earth, heading back home to seek revenge on the heroes that sent him away.

Hulk has already been jettisoned into space, albeit on his own part, at the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and Ragnarok will find him taking part in a gladiatorial contest against Thor. He'll also be sporting his gladiator armour, as seen in the Planet Hulk comic book.

It's unknown if Ragnarok will continue the Planet Hulk storyline any further than this, but it's a good bet that it will be continued, if not in this movie, then in the upcoming Avengers sequels.
