Thor: Ragnarok - Predicting Who Lives And Who Dies

8. Sif

Prediction: Dies

In a war movie, the supporting characters are barely ever safe, and Lady Sif serves the plot better by dying than she ever could living.

Why?

Not only is she expendable, but sacrifice to save Thor would fit her arc and mirror what happens in the comics. We know that Sif has a "pivotal" role in Ragnarok, and the only way for that to be true is for her death to mean something. It's not like she's going to be Thor's new love interest (that role will be taken by Valkyrie), so there are limited possibilities.

In the comics, Sif gave up her soul in place of Thor's when Hela killed him and that very much sounds like the perfect "pivotal" storyline.

Now that we know Thor starts Infinity War floating through space, badly injured, it seems nailed on that he loses Ragnarok, and it wouldn't be outside of the realms of possibility for Hela to kill him and for Sif to sacrifice her own soul to save him. And if that does end up being the case, it's unlikely Hela would simply bring him back to life on Asgard - she'd be tricksy about it, and firing him off into space would absolutely fit.
