4. The Action Lacks A Little Punch

Perhaps it's because Waititi doesn't really have a great deal of experience with big-scale action spectacle, but the only time the film feels like it's not on its full A-game is in the action sequences.

They're good, but they aren't quite fitting the billing of Hulk vs Thor, or Hela vs an entire Asgardian defence force. The zombie Hela underlings are little more than cannon fodder, so their action is similarly stunted to the Ultron drone and Chitauri attack sequences, and you find yourself wishing for action that matches the quality of the script. There are certainly flashes of Waititi's humour in there, but otherwise, they're a little light on personality.

They aren't bad, per se, but they just don't feel like they really push anything and that's a shame in a film that otherwise revels in its difference.
