Tom Hardy Says Wearing Bane Mask For The Dark Knight Rises Was A Challenge

The Press Association cornered the actor at last night's UK premiere of This Means War and asked him what the experience of wearing the iconic Bane mask throughout the film was like; "Bane€™s mask is tight, actually. I got used to it, but you get used to anything really, in time.€ When asked whether it was a challenge to find Bane's inner dark side in his performance he wrote; €I didn€™t get into a dark place at all. A lot of dark characters are easy to have distance from, it€™s something I feel comfortable with, I suppose.€ Meanwhile, a little tidbit on an actress who was nearly in The Dark Knight Rises but ultimately didn't get the call. ESPN.com caught up with Kate Mara (sister to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's Rooney Mara) and she confirmed that she did indeed screen rest for the Catwoman role in Christopher Nolan's forthcoming movie but ultimately lost out to Anne Hathaway; "Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors and just to get the opportunity to test for such an iconic role as Catwoman was an honor. I couldn't talk about it for a while because the movie was so top-secret," she added. "But I am excited to see how it all turns out." The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.
