Tom Holland's Movies Ranked Worst To Best
16. How I Live Now
While the movie-going world knows that it's only a matter of time until the excellent Saoirse Ronan wins her first Oscar, it was never going to be for How I Live Now. Saoirse and Tom star as cousins who have a summer fling (yes... cousins) in the English countryside just before a nuclear blast wipes out London and imposes martial law across the UK.
Following in the footsteps of a couple of other teen-based apocalypse survival movies (such as the woeful remake of Red Dawn in 2012 and the lacklustre Tomorrow, When The War Began in 2010), How I Live Now is actually the highlight of this incredibly specific sub-genre. It chooses to focus on the personal trials of Daisy (Ronan) and her cousin Piper (Harley Bird) as they attempt to cross the countryside and reunite with their cousins Eddie (George McKay) and Isaac (Tom).
Ultimately, this isn't a large part for Tom, who appears mostly at the beginning of the film and then hands it over to he capable hands of Saoirse Ronan, who does what she does best.
