Top 10 Film Scenes of White People Dancing to Black Music

3. Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srH94OR1TbU Sadly, around this time, no one was giggling or charmed in the slightest by Tom Cruise. The first decade of the new millennium had not been kind to Mr. All-American. Its seems that his Hubbardian deal with the aliens had at some point soured as well. A perfect confluence of social fails and weird behavior had alienated him from the public that once loved him oh so well; it seemed that no amount of critical or commercial success (Mission Impossible 3, War of the Worlds) could sway favor back his way. Oddly enough, Cruise found his salvation not in Oscar glory or financial success, but in the guise of a morally-depraved film producer named Les Grossman. Apparently, Cruise got tired of trying to win back the public's affection and decided to have a little fun. His over-the-top lewd behavior, unbelievably foul mouth and non-existent scruples made him a very wry comic figure in the film (not to mention an apt characterization of the worst traits of a Hollywood producer). It was his dance moves that catapulted the character into mythical status. Credit Ben Stiller and company's intuition; they knew that only modern hip hop music in its materialistic excess and raw, erotic swagger could suit a character so crude, corrupt and sexually subhuman. At the end of the day, after Grossman has cursed and compromised to the top of the Hollywood system, the only thing left for him to do is a triumphant victory dance to Ludicris' "Get Back". Funny thing is, in a movie full of intentionally over-the-top characterizations and satire, Crusie in a fat suit shaking his thang around his office to rap music rings the most true.

Raymond Woods is too busy watching movies to give you a decent bio. If he wasn't too busy watching movies and reading books about movies and listening to podcasts about movies, this is what he'd tell you. "I know more about film than you. Accept this as a fact and we might be able to talk."
