In the scene above, we visit her in a nightclub, looking serenely classy. Cast in the blue lights from above and sporting blue eye shadow, Dorothy sings the Clovers song Blue Velvet. Though the scene sets up Jeffrey's interactions with Frank, it also allows for the perfect juxtaposition of the serenity of the song and the ambiance of the club with the sickening depravity encompassing the rest of the film.
