Trailer: COWBOYS & ALIENS Aims To Cover All Bases

Universal screened the full length theatrical trailer for Jon Favreau's multi genre blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens last night during American Idol... and I'd love to have seen it in vicinity of those who are only hearing about the movie for the first time. We haven't really seen such an expensive tentpole attempt to play in the ballpark of two widely different genres such as the Western and the Science-Fiction picture in quite some time and I imagine it will be jarring for many a Joe Popcorn. Definitely reminiscent of his style and direction from the Iron Man movies, director Jon Favreau wisely keeps the majority of the trailer alien-free, focusing on the straight-edged Western period and I must admit I found myself a little engrossed by gunslinger Daniel Craig's amnesiac plight and battle with veteran Harrison Ford I forgot the supernatural aspects were to come. I'll have to be honest, the other wordly beasties and their many aircrafts kind of annoyed me when they did arrive... and I hope I don't get this feeling from the completed film which rides our way on July 29th. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNKUlaZR1vs Of course in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade we had an older James Bond and a younger Indy team-up... now the Indy is the older partner and the James Bond is young. Made me feel oddly nostalgic. Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Olivia Wilde (who doesn't seem to have much of a defining character, but she is naked a lot) Noah Ringer, Walton Goggins, Keith Carradine and Ana de la Reguera support.
