3. Sombre Covers Of Pop Songs In Trailers Are Officially The New Inception Boom

It's been happening for a while now, but the song in the The Last Knight trailer totally confirms it. Hans Zimmer-esque Inception bwaaaaarrrrrrrmms are no longer in fashion for trailers, and have been replaced by sombre covers of typically upbeat or lighthearted sounding pop songs.

In this instance it's a cover of Do You Realize by The Flaming Lips, performed by British film director and composer Ursine Vulpine (real name Frederick Lloyd). Though the The Flaming Lips' version of Do You Realize is musically cheery and joyful, its lyrics are admittedly deeply cynical and nihilistic.

Do you realise, Vulpine crones, that everyone you know someday will die. It might be a bit of a cliche at this stage, but it can be fairly effective, especially given the shot of Optimus Prime's destroyed body coupled with the lyric do you realise we're floating in space. Effectively contrived, that is.
