Triple Frontier Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
Ups...
5. The Fantastic Ensemble Cast
Even when the writing falters, Triple Frontier is a generally easy watch thanks to the skills of its top-drawer ensemble cast.
As a five-man team of military vets plotting to kill and rip off a South American kingpin, Oscar Isaac, Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal are a highly entertaining, well-matched bunch.
Easily the meatiest of the five roles go to Isaac and Affleck, the former bringing a steely moral ambiguity to the table, while Affleck expertly sells the world-weary nature of his embattled character.
Everyone plays their part well, and save for a fairly malnourished role for Adria Arjona as the team's informant, they all feel like well-realised human beings.
With a more consistent script they could've done even more, but seeing such talented actors sharing the screen is inherently quite good fun.
