Uma Thurman: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

5 Awesome Performances...

5. Glory - Mad Dog And Glory

One of the hidden gems on Uma€™s filmography is the comedy thriller Mad Dog And Glory. She plays the girlfriend of a gangster (Bill Murray) who is gifted to a shy police officer (Robert De Niro) after he saves his live. The setup sounds potentially icky but the film is sweet and Thurman manages to convince the audience that Glory could actually fall for a loser like De Niro€™s character. De Niro is playing against type as the meek cop who comes out of his shell thanks to Glory's help. Their love story feels surprisingly credible and the two actors play off each other really well. Glory could easily have been a one-dimensional love interest but both Thurman and the script give her a lot more personality. She can be funny and charming but also tough and determined when she has to be. This is hardly her most famous role but it showed she could take a part as traditional as the girl that needs saving and make a strong character out of it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
