Uncharted Movie: 10 Important Developments You Need To Know
1. Joe Carnahan's Script Is Being Rewritten
Well before Holland joined the project, Uncharted was being scripted by Joe Carnahan, who's best known for directing The Grey, The A-Team and Smokin' Aces.
But during this time, there was no indication that Carnahan's script revolved around a young Nathan Drake. The writer had even mentioned in interviews that his script was R-Rated, a trait that presumably meant the movie would feature an older, womanising, more foul-mouthed version of the character.
But Holland wouldn't fit this script, so when he joined the movie, everything was overhauled. The entire project was redrafted, which surely means - although this hasn't been confirmed - that Carnahan's script has been scrapped entirely.
When Deadline initially announced Holland's addition to the cast, they used words like "reconfigured" and "redrafted" in their article, and since the actor signed up, Carnahan hasn't publicly spoken about the Uncharted movie at all - despite being very vocal about it beforehand.
On the downside, this means that Uncharted essentially started from scratch after Holland joined, but on the plus side, it means that the actor has been able to contribute to the development of his character.
Let's hope he gets it right.
