20 Awesome 90s Movies That Deserve More Love
1. The Boondock Saints (1999)
Though it's developed a strong cult following over the years, one can't help but wonder if The Boondock Saints is still one of the most underrated films of the '90s.
Poorly received upon release, tossed aside as a Tarantino knock-off back when Tarantino was all the rage, Troy Duffy's hysterical vigilante thriller about two brothers (Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery) sent by God to rid their town of crime made no money and has, over the years, slipped in and out of mainstream obscurity.
Also starring an uncaged and batsh*t hilarious Willem Dafoe as the cop on the brothers' tail, The Boondock Saints is a hyper-stylish action flick rife with live-wire performances, brilliant twists, and witty dialogue to die for.
It's easy to dismiss as Tarantino-lite - it definitely owes a lot to Reservoir Dogs - but by its own merits The Boondock Saints is very much its own beast, as thrilling, hilarious, and entertainingly strange as they come. What a riot.
