9. Herbert West: Reanimator
Last year it was announced that a new Reanimator movie was in the works, but with original Reanimator filmmaker Stuart Gordon passing away in 2020, this new film is an entirely separate reimagining of H. P. Lovecraft's classic short story.
This time around the role of protagonist Herbert West will be played by Joseph Morgan (Vampire Diaries), while Katie Cassidy (Arrow) will take up the Barbara Crampton role.
Now, no disrespect to the actors involved, but it's a basically thankless task trying to recast a horror character as iconic as Herbert West - and one played so unforgettably by Jeffrey Combs.
Naturally, many are going to question the decision to cast actors best known for their work on CW TV shows, while neither the writer nor director have any particularly meaningful credits to their names.
The original Reanimator remains such an iconic and beloved film, and trying to re-do it simply seems like a destined-to-fail fool's errand.
