Easy though it is to question the necessity of a Rambo prequel - or any Rambo film without Sylvester Stallone, really - credit to the filmmakers for absolutely crushing their casting of a younger Colonel Trautman.

Trautman was of course Rambo's mentor in the original series, as played so unforgettably by Richard Crenna, and it was recently confirmed that David Harbour will play the character in this prequel.

Even accepting that Harbour is decidedly more heavy-set than Crenna ever was, it's easy to picture him bringing the same grit and commanding presence that his predecessor did, which is so much more important than precisely matching physical characteristics.

Harbour has played his fair share of grizzled mentors in recent years - Stranger Things, Black Widow, Gran Turismo, and A Working Man, to name just a few - so if nothing else he'll certainly class up a prequel that precious few were actually asking for.
