20 Upcoming Movies Absolutely NOBODY Wants

2. Moana

Disney

One could reasonably argue that none of the recent live-action Disney remakes were really asked for by anyone other than Disney shareholders, but the upcoming Moana remake is the Mouse House's most egregious case of artistic redundancy yet.

After all, while last year's Snow White and Lilo & Stitch remakes were at least adapted from original films that were decades old in their own right, Moana was released in November 2016, meaning that when this remake lands this coming July, it'll be well short of a decade.

And so it's tough not to scoff at the craven, uninspired greed of it all, to take a smash hit animation that's in no reality "dated" and do it all over again in live-action.

The little footage we've seen so far suggests it's a shot-for-shot remake, and to make matters worse it has the same repulsive, blurry plastic sludge aesthetic that's plagued so many of these remakes.

Now, will Moana be a box office hit? Almost certainly, but does that mean anyone was actually asking Disney to produce it? Definitely not.
