20 Upcoming Movies Absolutely NOBODY Wants
19. Animal Farm
An animated adaptation of George Orwell's satirical dystopian novel Animal Farm has been a passion project of director Andy Serkis for more than a decade, and while on paper he seemed like a fine fit for the material, subsequent updates have left little remaining hope.
For one, the script was written by Nicholas Stoller - best known for his broad comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the Neighbors movies - and the ensemble voice cast is an undeniably odd-fitting bunch, led by Seth Rogen as boar antagonist Napoleon.
Beyond this, the trailer revealed the animation quality to be disappointingly lacking, while Serkis and Stoller also seem to have lightened the tone compared to Orwell's source material.
It further didn't help that the film quietly premiered last summer before being acquired by Angel Studios, a boutique distributor which specialises in Christian-themed content.
Basically no major studio would touch the film with a barge pole, which says it all really.
