20 Upcoming Movies Facing Huge Issues

4. Taking WAY Too Long - The Angry Birds Movie 3

Angry Birds is one of those franchises that already feels like ancient history - the video games peaked in popularity in the early 2010s, a decently successful film adaptation was released in 2016, and then a decidedly less-successful sequel in 2019.

Despite The Angry Birds Movie 2 grossing less than half of its predecessor's take, a third film is set to release this December.

It goes without saying that the law of diminishing returns, wildly belated release, and radically different theatrical landscape post-COVID all leave The Angry Birds Movie 3 facing a massive uphill struggle to profitability.

That's without even mentioning the fact it's slated to release just five days after Avengers: Doomsday, which is sure to suck all the four-quadrant, family-friendly oxygen out of the room.

If a third Angry Birds was going to happen, it probably needed to be by 2022 at the absolute latest. In 2026, does anyone give a single damn about it?
