Even though it was yet another dire entry into the franchise, last year's Jurassic World Rebirth was a solid commercial success, with director Gareth Edwards soon enough announced to return for the follow-up.

But it was recently revealed that Edwards has exited the sequel due to "creative differences" - a concerningly vague statement which leaves one wondering what could be going on creatively to make Edwards, who was fine with Rebirth's ramshackle script, walk away.

Furthermore, despite the film's mediocrity it was capably directed by Edwards, who worked under huge time constraints to meet a locked-in June 2025 release date.

For Edwards to pack his bags and Universal to let it happen, something must've gone drastically wrong.

And while there are many directors who could make a Jurassic World movie, Universal would've been smart to keep Edwards around as a reliable franchise shepherd.

Instead, we're likely to end up with a journeyman director being swiftly drafted in to helm the next sequel.
