17. The Author HATES The Film - Children of Blood & Bone
When a popular novel is being adapted to the big screen, the studio can typically count on the author to support its release, or in the very least politely keep quiet and enjoy the paycheck.
But such isn't the case with Children of Blood and Bone, a fantasy film based on Tomi Adeyemi's 2018 YA novel of the same name.
Back in July, Adeyemi spoke out about the production, calling it, "the worst thing I have ever had to live through," while claiming that she left the film's set "hyperventilating and sobbing," and is being "antagonised behind the scenes" to this very day.
Adeyemi neglected to name names, though a previous social media post indicated a disagreement with star Amandla Stenberg, who plays Princess Amari in the film.
The overall situation remains incredibly unclear, though it's nevertheless left the film's release wildly overshadowed by a cloud of unwanted drama.
And honestly, has it ever been a good sign when an author disparages an adaptation of their work pre-release?
