You might be aware that a reboot of the classic 1993 Sylvester Stallone action vehicle Cliffhanger is due to release next February, with Lily James starring as Naomi Cooper, a young woman who is forced to put her mountaineering skills to the test when armed mercenaries kidnap her sister (Nell Tiger Free) and father (Pierce Brosnan).
And though the film is still almost six months away from being released, the producers are evidently high on its chances of breaking out, given that they confirmed development of a sequel last September - an entire year ago.
It goes without saying that Cliffhanger 2 could easily still collapse if this initial reboot underperforms at the box office, but if it's even remotely successful, they should be ready to move on the sequel at a moment's notice.
Basically, it wouldn't surprise anyone if Cliffhanger 2's script is totally ready by the time this one hits cinemas.
