20 Upcoming Movie Sequels You Had No Idea About

6. Greyhound 2

Greyhound Tom Hanks
Sony Pictures Releasing

A COVID movie if there ever was one, the Tom Hanks-starring naval war film Greyhound was originally intended for a theatrical release by Sony, but once the pandemic hit they sold the film off to Apple, who released it on Apple TV+ in July 2020.

Between its cancelled theatrical release and general lack of obvious sequel prospects, it was assumed that Greyhound would be a one-off, because why wouldn't it be?

Yet back in February, it was rather quietly announced that Greyhound 2 was being shot in Australia, with Hanks, Elisabeth Shue, Stephen Graham, and Rob Morgan all returning from the original, alongside director Aaron Schneider.

Hanks will again get a writing credit, as the film follows the crew of the Greyhound from the beaches of Normandy to the Pacific Ocean during World War II.

This sequel's existence makes a little more sense when you consider that Greyhound has charted highly on streaming for the last six years, being a prototypical Dad Movie and all.
