20 Upcoming Movie Sequels You Had No Idea About

Andrew Niccol's 2005 crime drama Lord of War was a whole ton of fun, in large part due to Nicolas Cage's go-for-broke performance as arms dealer Yuri Orlov, yet there didn't seem to be an obvious setup for a sequel.

More to the point, the film was a box office flop, and though it posted strong sales on DVD, there was little indication that this moved the needle enough for a follow-up to ever be produced.

And even when the sequel was announced in May 2023, it was tough to believe that it would ever actually go before cameras, especially with Cage's lesser box office popularity and Niccol's lengthy career decline.

But indeed, Lords of War started shooting at the end of last year with Niccol returning as writer-director, while Cage stars once again, this time opposite Bill Skarsgård as Yuri's son Anton.

Regardless of how it turns out, seeing two actors as fiercely unique and unpredictable as Cage and Skarsgård share the screen is going to be a trip alright.
