13. Night at the Museum Reboot
The Night at the Museum franchise had a pretty good run, with its trilogy of theatrically released blockbusters grossing a total of $1.35 billion worldwide despite being aggressively average, not-too-memorable family-friendly entertainment.
Since then all we've had is an animated spin-off, Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, which went straight to Disney+ in 2022, but last year it was reported that a franchise reboot is in development.
Shawn Levy, who directed the original live-action trilogy, will produce the new film under his 21 Laps production company, which is said to revolve around an entirely new cast of characters while still being set in New York City's American Museum of Natural History. Tripper Clancy (Stuber, Die Hart) will pen the script.
Given that the original trilogy thrived above all else on its pitch perfect casting, and Robin Williams is sadly no longer with us, it's tough to imagine a new take recapturing the same levels of success. Just leave it alone.
