12. The Game of Life
Though not quite as groan-worthy as the aforementioned Whac-A-Mole movie, it's nevertheless difficult to be even remotely enthused by the recently announced screen adaptation of classic board game The Game of Life.
Hasbro and Amazon MGM are teaming up to adapt the game, which simulates a person's journey through life, with Sean Anders (Daddy's Home, Instant Family) set to direct and Allan Loeb (Collateral Beauty) tapped to write the script.
To take a board game about the nuts and bolts of life itself and try to wring a movie out of it is shamelessly scraping the bottom of the barrel.
It's easy to believe that an executive had a dusty family drama script sitting on their desk and got the "genius" idea to attach a brand name to it.
We can only hope that it might be some vaguely creative meta take on the game, Jumanji-style, but honestly even that sounds like a pretty played-out concept in this day and age.
