Venom 2: 10 Mistakes Sony Must Avoid This Time
4. That Glaring Plot Hole
This one is inexcusable. Did no one working on the film notice this? Or maybe they did, but didn't care? Who knows, but at least director Rubin Fleischer acknowledged the error.
The plot hole is this: the movie establishes that a symbiote can only bond with a host for a relatively short period of time (Venom and Eddie notwithstanding), yet the symbiote known as Riot spent 6 months bonded to an elderly Malaysian woman. Oops.
As an aside here, let's just remember that this movie's screenplay had three writers.
OK, it's not the end of the world, but a fictional world's rules should be consistent. We also live in an age where, now more than ever, movies are picked apart by fans for any tasty morsel of info they can find, and superhero movies get this treatment more than any other type. Knowing this, the movie-makers should've taken more care.
If a filmmaker doesn't care about their movie, why should we?
