Ducournau is a French film screenwriter and director who made her feature film debut back in 2016 with a little movie called Raw.

If you haven't seen Raw, go see it right now because it's absolutely fantastic and because you'll see exactly why Ducournau would be such a perfect fit for a Venom sequel. In Raw, she tells the story of a young vegetarian woman, Justine, coming-of-age in college and experiencing new sensations for the first time. It just so happens that one of those sensations is eating meat for the first time, which leads to her realizing she loves the taste of human flesh as well.

Narrative parallels to Venom and the character's own appetite for human flesh aside, a Venom sequel would be extremely lucky to be half as good as Raw. Ducournau captures the film's setpieces with such edge-of-your-seat intensity and tension that they're practically unbearable, all while keeping the audiences thoroughly rooted in Justine's struggle. Ducournau also shies away from violence or gore for the sake of it, cooking up some truly demented ways to torture her characters, which results in it being truly affecting for the audience, which was something the first Venom was desperately missing.

A Ducournau-directed Venom film would be hard-hitting, character-focused, and slightly avant-garde. In other words, everything Venom 2 needs.
