Want To Know How They Did Quicksilver's Scene In X-Men: Apocalypse?

Surprisingly, it wasn't all just CGI.

As everyone who has now seen X-Men: Apocalypse will now surely attest, the sequence that sees Quicksilver rescue the entire population of Xavier's School is easily the best. Even the film-makers knew as much before the film came out, given how much time they spent on it (Evan Peters spent more time on set than anyone else because of it).

And now that the film is out, Fox have released a fairly short glimpse behind the scenes at the scene as part of their making of featurettes on Youtube. It peels back some of the layers, confirming that it wasn't all achieved using CGI, with lots of practical stunt work and the use of a super-techy Phantom camera for the slow-motion elements.

That's pretty bloody clever.

Apocalypse is not the complete bust a lot of critics claimed - its critical reception is pretty much split completely down the middle and it has some incredible moments. The direction is a little wayward and there are some odd decisions in there, but it's mostly a very entertaining flick, and the effects - like in this scene - are excellent.

Go and see it, the results of this work deserve to be seen on the big screen.
