Warcraft: 8 Things It Actually Did Right

1. It Was Constantly Visually Interesting

Describing how great the CGI for the orcs was is one thing, but as a whole the film was a visual treat. The cinematography was frequently gorgeous, showing off the likes of Stormwind and the floating city of Dalaran through breathtaking vistas.

As a whole, the film was consistently visually appealing. The armour worn by the humans, for example, strove far from the realms of realism, embracing the ability to show off cool and interesting designs. There was a ton of visual diversity in the magic, too: rather than a simple teleport spell, transporting from location to location required a drawing out a winding cage of gorgeous blue magic.

Then there's the fact that everything is so beautifully colourful. From the luminous green Fel magic to the bright white stoned city of Stormwind, Warcraft was never not fun to look at. Again, this stems from shunning modern fantasy, tossing out the grit and mud and celebrating a more consistent video game aesthetic.
