Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster's new film Scapegoat was recently confirmed to be starring Scarlett Johansson, and fresh off the deeply unhinged one-two punch of Beau Is Afraid and Eddington, he looks set to deliver another bold, wildly twisted black comedy.

Though we don't have an official synopsis of any kind yet, reports indicate that Scapegoat revolves around Johansson's surgeon protagonist, whose patient - a popular, Jake Paul-esque social media influencer - dies on the operating table.

This causes said surgeon to come under fire from not only the influencer's family - including his wife, said to be a parody of Erika Kirk - but their legion of fans.

As with Eddington, Aster's satire sure doesn't pretend to be subtle, but it's certainly one of the most tantalisingly unique and provocative concepts for any film currently in the works.

And above all else, it'll probably give us Scar-Jo's finest performance in a hot minute.
