And finally, if there were an Oscar for Best Movie Title, then Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant just might win it this year.

This comedy-horror from New Zealand duo THUNDERLIPS follows Mary (Hannah Lynch), who through an improbable set of circumstances is accidentally impregnated by an alien, after which she faces myriad hurdles as she tries to have the resulting fetus removed from her body.

Reviews from the film's Sundance premiere have largely been positive, praising the filmmakers for melding a kooky riff on body horror with more genuine examinations of consent and bodily autonomy.

With reviewers mentioning strange alien genitalia with a tendency to spurt acidic ejaculate across rooms, much of which is realised with practical effects rather than digital trickery, it's clear that the filmmakers took a big, hard swing here.

Mashable called it "one of the strangest films I've seen in at least the last decade, if not ever." We can only hope.
