What Does The Ending Of Logan Really Mean?
2. How Do Fox Sell Another X-Men Movie?
Possibly the biggest connotation for Fox coming out of Logan is that they're going to struggle to be able to hype another X-Men movie after such a perfect full-stop on the original Bryan Singer arc. And that's a serious issue, given that they're already apparently moving ahead with X-Men: Supernova (a fake title for the Dark Phoenix saga apparently).
The only way they can do it - barring a deal with Marvel that sees another reboot and the X-Men meeting the Avengers (OH PLEASE KEVIN, PLEASE) - is to recast Wolverine pretty sharpish and make the new Dark Phoenix event also the new Wolverine event.
Sure, that might distract from Jean Grey's story, but there's very much a feeling that the new mutants introduced in Apocalypse weren't as strong as they really needed to be. And going with a full reboot at this stage would look like an admission of fault, so it's unlikely with other spin-offs planned. Without that Wolverine unveiling, it all looks like a bit of a mess.
