8. Courtney Cox Is Lois Lane

In the mid-to-late 90s, Courteney Cox would have made a fantastic Lois Lane, if not for the fact that she is the spitting image of Margot Kidder (who played Lois in Christopher Reeves' run of Superman flicks), but also that she's used to playing a dedicated, spunky reporter as she did so memorably as Gail Weathers in the Scream horror film franchise.

We're sure she would have been up to the demands of the role, though it remains to be seen if her chemistry with Cage would have been there; it's difficult to picture the two together, but then so is the case with so many dead projects.

Smith's own choice of Linda Fiorentino is a possibility that seems even more remote, so we can't knock Burton's choice with Cox too much.
