Who Are The Directors Taking Charge Of The MCU's Phase 4 Movies?
1. Taika Waititi - Thor: Love And Thunder
New Zealander Taika Waititi has risen to stardom over the past few years. It was him who began the current trend of indie directors being hired by Marvel to freshen up its franchise when he helmed Thor: Ragnarok back in 2017, to marvellous results.
Following his win for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars with Jojo Rabbit, he signed a deal with Netflix to remake Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He will also direct a real-life comedy about the American Samoa national team's qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2014. His own acting career is also taking off and he will cross comic-book allegiances when he appears in DC's The Suicide Squad (Suicide Squad 2) next year.
Recently pushed back to 2022, Thor: Love and Thunder will hope to carry on the momentum created by the new lease of life Waititi injected into the Avenger's solo series in Ragnarok. Now that it has been confirmed that The Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in the film, it surely won't be difficult for Waititi to turn on his trademark comedic style.
