Wonder Woman: 10 Reasons It's Actually Overrated

4. The Final Battle Is Like A Dark Souls Boss Fight

Without question the most bizarre part of Wonder Woman is its final battle sequence, which pits the titular heroine against Ares, the God of War.

Introducing bonafide Gods from Greek mythology into the DC Cinematic Universe is one thing, but the whole sequences plays out like a boss fight from a Dark Souls game - and not in a good way. The film's CGI levels are suddenly in overload, as Diana is forced to go head-to-head with a kind of wannabe Sauron. Here's a bad guy who would probably even look out of place in a Lord of the Rings movie.

There's something incredibly jarring about the entire sequence, from the look of David Thewlis' villain, to the way he calls forth fire and brimstone in order to build himself a makeshift suit of armour - not to mention it doesn't work tonally with what came before. It's almost like the scene was imported from a different film.

It's downright baffling that Patty Jenkins decided that this was the right final battle for Wonder Woman to partake in. Then again, it might have not been her idea: the excessive CGI monstrosity that is Ares has Zack Snyder's name written all over it.
