Wonder Woman: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

2. Women Are Front And Centre

Let's not beat around the bush: superhero flicks are a real sausage fest, and it's a breath of fresh air to see an upcoming film feature so many central female characters. Aside from Gadot as Prince, there's a whole society of Amazons to meet, including Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope.

There's also Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, who'll hopefully prove that you don't have to be a towering warrior goddess to be considered a capable woman, and the mysterious masked villain played by Elena Anaya makes the case for representation on both sides of the good/evil debate.

Of course, there will be plenty of men in the film - recreating moments from WWI without thousands of young men fighting in the trenches would seem a little inaccurate, as would casting the officers of the German army with women - but that's no bad thing, especially when they can serve as a counterbalance to just how awesome the Amazons are in battle.
