Wonder Woman Vs The Dark Knight: Which Is Better?

4. Emotional Resonance

One of the biggest issues audiences and critics often have with Nolan's movies is that they're emotionally cold and fail to rouse the heart. To this end, it's fair to say that Rachel's death, while shocking, isn't particularly affecting, though the movie's epic finale, where Batman goes into hiding, is undeniably powerful.

Wonder Woman's emotional core revolves around the romance between Diana and Steve, which of course pays off with Steve's sacrificial death dooming any chance they had of being together. It's brilliantly done and, considering how little time the movie had to establish their romance, surprisingly organic.

Winner: Nolan's clinical approach lets him down here, while Wonder Woman doubled down on its character-driven love story and made it pay off superbly.
