2. Turbulence

Turbulence
Lionsgate

Much as there's something inherently fun about a thriller set in a uniquely confined location, Turbulence had dumped-on-streaming junk written on its forehead from the very beginning.

A hostage thriller set aboard an out-of-control hot air balloon is neat in theory, though a passing glimpse of the trailer made it clear that the filmmakers simply didn't have access to the budget necessary to believably execute that premise.

That is to say, the green screen work is woeful throughout, ensuring it's nigh-on impossible to invest fully in the high-wire setup. If we don't believe the actors are actually in a hot air balloon, how can it possibly work?

On top of that, it's got Kelsey Grammer in a supporting role, and if Money Plane taught us anything, it's that Frasier will do just about anything for a wedge of cash.

All in all, Turbulence is an unintentionally funny genre romp that's neither genuinely tense nor knowingly camp enough to fully work.
