Chace Crawford has had the chance to play a despicable and pathetic super-powered character in The Boys (The Deep), and it's safe to say he's nailing it. So, maybe it's time for him to take on something more heroic. Perhaps it's time he puts away the gills in favour of some red sunglasses.
The former Gossip Girl star has a perfect look for the superhero world. He's got an impressive physique, a clean-cut aesthetic and an energy that makes him stand out. Plus, his more minor star power would mean he'd be a fresh slate for general audiences.
Additionally, one of the unique selling points for casting him is how great he is at playing vulnerability. Despite being such a brilliant tactician and a brave leader, Scott Summers often falls victim to his insecurities, so casting someone like Crawford - who has proven to be good at that - would be a step in the right direction.
This path towards a version of Scott, who fights through his low self-esteem, could result in him being far less of a wet blanket than previous instalments have depicted him.
