Regardless of what you may think of that show, Somerhalder has proved he can be the anti-hero with ease and his smoldering good looks certainly don't hurt his chances of bagging the role of the Cajun mutant. In The Vampire Diaries, Somerhalder has also proved he can handle forbidden attraction, so if the X-Men producers decide to finally link Gambit romantically with Rogue, there would be definite chemistry there.
