X-Men: Apocalypse - 8 Ways The New Trailer Killed Your Anticipation

1. The New Trailer Inadvertently Makes The Whole Film Less Interesting

Remember when Batman v Superman changed everyone's mind with a really awesome teaser trailer, and then a few weeks later there was another trailer that showed and teased and revealed so much about the film that it made the whole thing less interesting? That other trailer wasn't needed; everyone had formed their opinion and were ready to part with their cash on release day. And then Warner Bros. pushed their luck and spoilt it all. Well, that's kind of what has happened here. While the previous X-Men: Apocalypse trailers weren't exactly winning, they were at least successful in building a sense of mystery about the film; even if people weren't sure what to make of X-Men: Apocalypse, they were still intrigued by it... which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. But now, Apocalypse feels like a far less interesting film than it did before the trailer was out there: plot specifics aside, it's a trailer that ultimately portrays a kind of superhero blockbuster that we've seen a dozen times before. Not only that, but it exposes so many potential problems with the film that you could understand why, having seen it, somebody might lose interest: been there, done that. As trailer unveilings go, this isn't a totally disastrous move on 20th Century Fox's part; X-Men: Apocalypse will still make a hefty mark at the box office. But who can honestly say that their anticipation levels have gone up having seen the new trailer? Ultimately, the only thing that it probably did was make the fanbase less excited. Like this article?
