4. How Could Mystique Try To Kill Xavier?
Mystique is hands down one of the best things about the X-Men films. Enigmatic and lethal, she is a wonderful character portrayed marvellously by both Jennifer Lawrence and Rebecca Romijn. Granted, I wasn't a huge fan of how quickly her relationship with Magneto dissolved in X3, but then I wasn't a huge fan of most of what happened in X3. Either way, Mystique was reintroduced to us in First Class, and she was quite a different person. Oh, and also Xavier's adopted sister. Which, while strange, raises a few poignant questions. Firstly, in X-Men, she nearly killed Xavier by sabotaging Cerebro. Without batting an eye. What gives? Also, when she learned that the Professor had been kidnapped by Stryker and was quite possibly dead, she showed not one hint of worry or sadness. Again, what gives? Lastly, when Magneto uses Xavier to target the humans, mystique is not only present, but she helps facilitate the plan. What the heck gives? You would think there'd be some emotion there, even from Mystique. It makes one wonder what could have happened between her and Xavier to make her hate him enough to try to kill him more than once. It's not like they parted on the worst of terms in First Class. Unless something happens in Days of Future Past that really drives a wedge between the two, it's all going to remain a bit confusing.
